We showed this video at the family Fun Day. It’s about a boy from Malawi in Africa. He taught himself how to build a windmill to help irrigate his families land by reading books at a local library. Be built the windmill. He saved his family from starvation.

We believe libraries are important. If someone from a small country in Africa can achieve so much from their library, what can someone with the opportunities in this country achieve?

Sydenham Library is under threat of closure. If it is shut it’s gone forever. The library is an essential part of the regeration of Home Park. The library have been incredibly supportive of the improvements that have been made in Home Park, especially with the Family Fun Day.

Even if you don’t use the library that much, if you believe in the library system, please support the campaign to save it:

More news on the campaign to follow.

Many thanks

The Gym was a big hit with everyone…

It was great to see so many happy faces in the park.

There was music.

Great food

And of course the Young Peoples film show of Envy and the Block buster ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ which we showed when it was finally dark enough. Even a brief rain shower didn’t keep people away.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the day the success it was. We will personally thanks everyone in another post, so don’t think we have forgotten. Roll on next year!

On another note, the day also gave us a reminder why we, and the local community needs the library. We will fight to keep it open. More on this soon.
